Raise Your Daughter Without Gender Bias

Updated: Sep 3, 2020

Right from their mother's womb girls are despised and subjected to ridicule. And it becomes a long life struggle to survive in this male dominated society.

Sheetal would love to go to school but her mom prefers to keep her at home to help her with the household chores. She has no choice but to stay home and do what she's told.

I would love to read like my brother. He loves comics. As I see him sink into his books every evening he sometimes smiles to himself as he reads. He understand what he reads. As for me I can just look at the pictures. –Sheetal

Since the day girls are born they are seen a as a liability. For parents a debt that someday has to be paid off for instance in the custom of dowry. So they never invest in her education or her future. She is made to work at home or the fields. She is given less privilege in everything at home. Boys still get first preference in most parts of India. They are given an education, given new clothes, books, toys and even better portion at meals. Girls are 'lesser beings' in a lot of parts in India. Sad but true.
